John A. Higgins

John A. Higgins, Professional Engineer passed away peacefully Thursday, March 24 at 5:20am in York, ME. He was surrounded by his loving wife, son, and daughter.  

Born in 1951 in Lewiston, ME to Arthur and Mary Higgins and brother to Chris, John grew up in Auburn, ME.  A member of Edward Little High school class of 1970, he met and married his high school sweetheart Carol Levesque.  They were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this June.

Utilizing his education from the former CMVTI school, John relocated to Berwick, ME in early 1980 to practice engineering with several NH Seacoast engineering firms.  In Berwick, they raised son Benjamin and daughter Jennifer.  During this time, John was active in local planning boards until 2010 when health concerns forced an early retirement.

John is also survived by grandchildren in Northbridge, MA and Lincoln, NH.

A private ceremony will be held for the family at a later date.  The family appreciates privacy during this time of grief.  In lieu of flowers, donations to “Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mid-Maine” in John's name would be welcome.
