John E. Gilmore Obituary

Barnstead, NH/York, ME- John E. Gilmore, 60, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 with his family by his side. Always Loved, Forever Missed, Never Forgotten... John was born November 19, 1960 in Concord, NH.

John "Eddie" as he was known by, grew up in Springvale, Maine and summered at Hampton Beach, NH working at his Families Deep Sea Fishing Business, Smith and Gilmore, which was established in 1929. He commercially fished most of his career doing what he loved lobstering, was an avid Tuna fisherman,  and then became the third generation, owner / operator of the business with his wife Nancy by his side. Eddie was a true Mariner and went full circle with his experience and love of the sea, from knowledge about boat building, and engines to an incredible antique outboard collection he cherished.

His long battle with serious medical issues showed his courage and strength and  through it all, facing these challenges with the glass half full attitude.
Eddie fought courageously until the bitter end, remaining strong and hopeful not only for himself, but also for those he cherished by his side.

He leaves his wife and best friend Nancy A. (Lowell) Gilmore; a son John E. Gilmore Jr. and his wife Noelle of Exeter, NH; his father Claude R. Gilmore Barnstead, NH; a sister Dyan Gilmore of Bridgton, ME; 3 grandchildren Caleb Gilmore, Willow Gilmore and Isaac Gilmore. His mother Arlene C. (Abbott) Gilmore predeceased him.
