Joseph A. Buonanduci Obituary

Joseph Buonanduci, 67, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts and recently of Sanford, Maine, loving husband of 39 years to Peg Buonanduci, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 5th , 2024, surrounded by family.

Joe was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on September 10, 1956, the son of Michael and Teresa Buonanduci. He grew up in Readville, Massachusetts, was a graduate of Dedham High School, and attended Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union. Joe worked for Eastern Airlines for many years, which brought him to Atlanta, Georgia, where he met his wife, Peg. After returning to Massachusetts and settling in Bridgewater, he worked for the Boston Globe as a machinist for 30 years until his retirement in 2018.

Joe enjoyed riding his motorcycle and cherished his cross-country trips with friends. He loved Italian food, enjoyed cooking, and was especially known for his red sauce. Fishing, hiking, playing chess and cribbage, working on puzzles, vacationing in Maine, and watching his favorite New England sports teams were some of his favorite pastimes. He was a mechanic by trade but enjoyed working on cars as a hobby and fixing cars for family and friends. He had an unwavering sense of humor, was warmhearted and compassionate, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a loyal friend and was blessed to have a loving and supportive circle of friends. Family was Joe’s priority, and his daughters and granddaughter were the joys of his life. He deeply loved caring for and spending time with his family; gatherings were always loud and filled with laughter. He will be missed by so many.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his daughters Justine Mason (and her husband Stephen Mason) and Michele Buonanduci (and her partner Paul Thompson), his granddaughter Nora Mason, his brother Michael Buonanduci (and his wife Linda Buonanduci), and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Joe’s family extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Northern Light Home Care and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. His family will receive family and friends at Lucas &  Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd, York, Maine on Saturday August 10th from 2 to 4pm with a prayer service to begin promptly at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, his family is requesting donations to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
