Karen Blaisdell LePage, 72, of South Berwick, Maine, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH on Monday, June 17, 2024, due to recent struggles with heart disease.
Karen was born August 9, 1951, in York, Maine, daughter to the late Merle F. Blaisdell and Mary (Philbrick) Cacciatore. She lived in York throughout her childhood, graduating from York High School in 1969. It is here where she developed her love for the New England seacoast, especially its beaches such as Long Sands Beach. Her late grandfather, Cato R. Philbrick, also managed the York Harbor Reading Room where she fostered fond memories of this beautiful southern Maine coastal area. Her love and appreciation of the area was further recognized as her wedding reception was held across the street at the York Harbor Inn in 1983 to Russell J. LePage, her loving husband of 41 years.
Karen was a devoted and loving mother to Andrew (“AJ”) and Kristen. Her unwavering love and support demonstrated throughout their childhood as she scheduled their activities, attended and cheered at their sporting events, advised them on schoolwork, and provided homecooked meals like her homemade meatballs and pasta sauce. Moreso impressive was her dedication to motherhood was accomplished while continuing to work fulltime as she was an employee at Liberty Mutual for 49 years, serving locations in Boston, Portsmouth, and Dover; an achievement with the upmost admiration from her children. In addition to her children, appreciative family members included her pets as Karen was an animal lover that took in numerous cats and dogs throughout the years to provide a caring and loving home.
Later in life, Karen continued her loving and caring ways as a grandmother (“Nana K.”) to her grandsons, Callen and Desmond, as she and Russell (“Beepa”) made weekly trips to Boston to care for their young grandchildren. She also ensured to maintain her connection to the southern Maine coast by frequently attending shows at the Ogunquit Playhouse, celebrating holidays and anniversaries at the York Harbor Inn, and enjoying a coffee ice cream soda at the Goldenrod in York at least once each summer.
Karen is survived by her husband Russell LePage, son AJ LePage and wife Amy of Boston, MA, their sons Callen and Desmond, and daughter Kristen LePage and fiancé Joe Thompson of Danville, NH.
A public graveside service will be celebrated at the First Parish Cemetery, located at 180 York St. in York at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 26th.
