Kieran Michael Hanlon Obituary

Kieran Michael “Mike” Hanlon, 77, passed away on April 2, 2024 following a long, courageous battle with heart disease. He was a longtime resident of York, Maine.

Mike was born on May 18, 1946 to Edward and Helen (Bowden) Hanlon in Darby, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Fullerton, California. Mike was the second of three children and had many happy memories of growing up alongside his two sisters, Patricia and Mary. Mike graduated from Servite High School in Anaheim, California and continued his education at California State University, Fullerton where he was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity and the graduating class of 1970.

In the late 1980’s, Mike put down roots in Escondido, California with his first wife, Catherine (Pond) Hanlon. Together, they had two children. Their daughter, Sara, was born in 1989 and their son, Peter, was born in 1990. Mike later moved to York, Maine where he met his wife of the past 18 years, Lynne (Millette Langenheim) Hanlon. They were married in 2006.

Mike always had a strong work ethic. He had a long and varied career, primarily in precious metal sales. From 1997-2004, Mike served as a Reserve Officer and Harbor Master with the York Police Department. In these roles, Mike honorably served his community while immersing himself in his love of boating. In recent years, while facing his own health challenges, Mike was a proud member of The Nationwide Organ Recovery Transport Alliance’s ground transport team. In this role, Mike positively impacted the lives of countless people by transporting medical teams, donor organs/tissues, and supplies to locations across the Northeast.

Mike was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. He never passed up the opportunity to tell stories of his past adventures, and he had a great sense of humor.  Through the years, Mike enjoyed an active lifestyle and had many hobbies including golf, football, and Judo. He was an impressive athlete, and his strength, grit, and determination shone through in all aspects of his life. Mike was always especially passionate about boating and fishing. Each year, he looked forward to visiting Cobbosseecontee Lake with his wife, Lynne. He enjoyed life’s simplicities and could often be found with a pair of binoculars at York Harbor, keeping close watch on the tide.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Helen Hanlon.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lynne Hanlon; children Sara (Nathan) Hanlon and Peter Hanlon; stepchildren Jeffrey (Kayla) Langenheim, Scott (Jordyn) Langenheim, and Daniel Langenheim; sisters Patricia (Kelley) Hoskins and Mary Hanlon Soylu; nieces and nephews Christopher, Colleen, Yesim, Yasar, and Baris; step-grandsons Malcolm and Conrad; many lifelong friends; and beloved dog, Coco.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Mike’s cardiologists, Dr. Lawrence Petrovitch, MD and Dr. Jeffrey P. Colnes, MD.

To honor Mike’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. His immediate family will gather privately in the future to commemorate his life. His friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Mike’s life in the way he would want to be remembered - as a loving and caring man who enjoyed life.
