Lillian C. Fagone Obituary

York Maine-  Lillian C. Fagone 93 formerly of 117 Long Sands Rd passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 26, 2024 in Durgin Pines.

She was born on May 10, 1931 in East Boston to the late Gerald L. and Angelina (Polino) Calello. She was the youngest child, predeceased by her brothers Anthony, and Gerald as well as her sister Marie Leblanc.

Lillian lived in East Boston most of her life and worked in the insurance industry in Boston for many years. She loved the city of Boston and always referred to this as home. She had many stories to share of her growing up there through the years. She is predeceased by many girlfriends she spoke fondly of.

She was married to John L. Fagone and they raised ason John Jay who passed away on April 22, 2023. This was extremely difficult for her, but she lived on for her remaining family. Daughter in law, Karen Campbell of Portland ME and her 3 grandchildren Michael J. Fagone, of Berwick ME. Petra J. Fagone of Londonderry NH and Samantha L. Fagone of Manhattan NY. She also had 2 great grandchildren Isabella and Vincent. She was cherished by her family as “Nana” who spoiled her grandchildren and great grandchildren with love and of course food!

Lillian also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the Auntie everyone adored! She had a special relationship with her great niece LindsayMaylor Ferreira of Plainville, MA who she babysat regularly and considered her to be like a daughter.

Lillian loved all of her family and friends, she was happiest in her kitchen cooking for a crowd whether it was a holiday gathering, card games or just a few visitors for coffee!  You never left with an empty stomach!

Lillian and John divorced later in life and Lillian met Vincent Centofanti a long-term companion whom she adored. They went on several wonderful trips. Her favorite being Sicily which she talked about all the time! She would say “everyone should go” Vincent sadly passed in 2004.

Lillian moved to York, Maine in 2003 to be closer to her grandchildren. She volunteered at York Hospital for several years. She loved this position. She loved to help people and loved being busy. She was always smiling and making new friends throughout the community.

Lillian was born in the depression, she has lived through huge life events, that have changed our world, she has suffered tremendous loss but she would remain hopeful no matter how bad she may have felt. She was positive and always had faith. She could make anyone feel better with her smile. Lillian will be deeply missed but she touched so many lives, and she will never be forgotten.

“When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind”
