Louis G. Mirisola Obituary

Louis G. Mirisola passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family on June 16, 2023. Louis was born in South Boston; his family then moved to Andover, MA. He and his wife Marguerite (Carelli) Mirisola, whom he was devoted to for 66 loving years, raised their family of seven children in Andover, MA, then in York and Eliot, ME.

He is survived by Marguerite (Marge), and all of his children: David Mirisola and his spouse Lyni, Mathew Mirisola and his spouse Ric Ide, Louise Slattery and her spouse Kenneth, Carol (Cam) Mirisola-Bynum and her spouse Robert, Patricia Byam and her spouse Steven, Paula DeForitis, and Ellen Rothwell and her spouse Matthew. Louis was the very proud grandfather of 20 grandchildren—including those by marriage—and 11 great grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than visits from them, laughs around the table at family dinner, time spent at the lake watching them play together, sitting on the sidelines watching soccer matches, or FaceTime calls singing happy birthday to them—or having them sing to him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rocco and Nancy (Ignacia Porrovecchio) Mirisola, sisters, Bernadette Goguen and Carmella MacNeill, and brother Joseph Mirisola. Lou leaves behind his brother Robert Mirisola and his spouse Patricia of York, ME, and his brother-in-law (very much a brother to him), Francis (Frank) Carelli and his spouse Maty of Palm Coast, FL. Having a large, loving, extended family, Louis also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved and was equally as proud of.

Louis served his country with honor, stationed on Okinawa, went back to school nights to earn a bachelor’s degree, while raising a family with Marge, and enjoyed a fruitful, lifelong career at Raytheon in Andover, MA. He was also involved with the Raytheon Andover Management Club, serving on the board and as president. He was a Pee Wee football and Little League baseball coach, and was a strong supporter of youth sports, heading up the Booster’s Club while his eldest four were in high school, managing many fundraisers for the sports teams in general. He and Marge also received an award for all their efforts on behalf of the gymnastics team. In his day, Lou was quarterback for the Punchard High School football team, and played baseball, track, and golf as well.

Known as Lou, Louie, Papa, Pops, or as his golf buddies nicknamed him, Vito, Lou also loved seeing the many birds that flocked to his bird feeders. He had a fascination with coins (never passed one on the ground without picking it up) and a coin collection that reflected his passion for them. Lou and Marge, devout Catholics, attended St. Christopher’s in York, ME. Lou was deeply loved and is already—and will remain—sorely missed. The family welcomes family and friends who would like to celebrate Lou’s life with them.
