Lynne M. Dennis

It is with great sadness that the family of Lynne Marie Dennis announces her tragic and unexpected passing on October 16 in York, Maine. She was the beloved wife of Larry Dow of York, Maine. 

Born July 5, 1951, in New Haven, CT, Lynn had a contagious laugh, quick wit and insatiable intellectual curiosity. In addition to her husband, Larry, and family, Lynn had a wide range of passions that included nature, birds, wildlife, the beach, cooking, the law, gardening, family genealogy, reading, politics, and serving as an active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in York. She was admired for her brilliance and feistiness including her enjoyment of reading theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking’s books “for fun” and her wonderful sense of humor. 

She graduated from Hamden High School in Hamden, CT in 1969 (where she was voted Most Likely to Succeed), Mount Holyoke College in S. Hadley, MA in 1973, and earned her JD degree at the University of Connecticut in 1976. Her long legal career included serving on the New Hampshire Legislature as Director of Legislative Services in Concord, NH, and serving as Counsel for the McNeill, Taylor law firm in Dover, NH. Throughout her life, her adventures included sailing, dining with Julia Child and travel to Europe and the Caribbean. Lynn also loved animals; especially her two Irish Setters, Scarlett and Rhedd. 

In addition to her husband, Larry Dow, Lynn is survived by her stepdaughters, Laura Dow and Amanda June Goss (Ben Goss) and grandchildren (Annabelle and Christian).

Lynn was the daughter of the late Daniel H. Dennis, Jr. and Mary Hart Dennis, and cherished sister of Doreen Dennis Booker (Lashon), Danny Dennis, Sheila Dennis, Sharon Dennis (Bob Cohn) and Caroline Dennis (Herbert Linn). She was aunt to the late Maria Booker, Matt Booker (Khira Maxwell), Maya Cohn, Natalie Cohn, Daniel Dennis, Samantha Dennis and great aunt to Mathew Booker, Jr.
