Manning "Gene" E. Lawry

York, Maine- Manning Eugene Lawry (Gene),88, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 peacefully surrounded by family at his home. He was Born on April 12, 1934 in Kittery Point, Maine to the late Edward and Mary C. (Herlihy) Lawry.

He is survived by his wife of 59 Years, Harriet Trafton Lawry; His son and daughter in law, Alan and Christine Lawry of Greenland New Hampshire ; brother Edward Lawry of Wallingford, Conn., sister Kathleen Folger of York, Maine, His brother and sister in law, Dennis and Ada Lawry of Portsmouth, NH; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by Tom Lawry of Kittery Point, Maine.

After graduating from Traip Academy , Gene delivered home heating oil for Emery Oil Co. for many years. Gene retired from Central Maine Power, after enjoying a career that included being a meter reading and Line Inspector.

During his 30 year retirement, Gene enjoyed playing his acoustic bass with various local country music Bands, Attending local High School football games, and welcoming neighbors to join Harriet and him on their farmers porch for a casual chat, while enjoying the view of Chase Pond.

The family would like to send thanks to all the Chases pond neighbors that were always willing to assist Manning and Harriet with any help needed. Gene was a true kind Gentleman and always had a smile on his face. He was always willing to spend the time and effort needed to be a Loving son, husband, father, brother, and neighbor.
