Marilyn J. (Duerr) Adams

Marilyn Adams, 92, of West Hartford, Connecticut passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 12th. 

Marilyn was born June 23rd, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan where she grew up. Her parents were Margaret and John Duerr.

A strong and independent spirit for the time, she spent her young working life briefly in New York City where she worked at an organization reuniting survivors of World War II. Later, she would move back to her family home in West Hartford, CT and worked for Cigna Insurance until her early retirement. She then moved to Westbrook, CT where she cared for her mother and worked for General Dynamics. Upon her second retirement, she moved to Kittery, Maine, a place she lovingly called home.

Marilyn was above all else devoted to her family. She was proud to be known as Mimi to her family. She was incredibly close with her mother, daughter, and grandson. She loved the beach and rooted for Detroit in any sport.. She loved to laugh through everything in life and was always a source of light and laughter. And more than anything, she loved her family and the time spent with them. 

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Adams Harrington, her grandson, Raymond Harrington and his wife, Kaleena, her great-grandson, Finn Harrington, and her brother, Richard Duerr. She will be laid to rest Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
