Marlene F. (Niebling) Brouker

Marlene Flora Niebling Brouker passed away on November 1, 2023 at 90 years old surrounded
by her family and the loving caregivers at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough, Maine.
She leaves behind 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren. To the very end of
her life, Marlene was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She was a true
Christian touching thousands of hearts with an amazing legacy of caring, love, and grace.
Marlene was loved by many.

Marlene attended and graduated from Pittsfield High School and Secretarial School in Pittsfield,
MA. Her secretary skills were excellent as she was employed at the Morningside Baptist Church
in Pittsfield, MA for many years. Marlene preferred the manual typewriter to computers and
with her persistent resilience, Marlene worked through these technical challenges with style.

Paul and Marlene moved to York, Maine from their hometown of Pittsfield, MA in 2005 and
lived the next 15 years in York Senior Housing in their lovely apartment near the beach. They
made many friends, served on boards and became “resident helpers” for others throughout
their happiest years in York. Marlene often said that every day in York she felt like she was “on
vacation.”

Marlene was a remarkable caregiver for all those she loved. In spite of the progression of
dementia, Marlene never forgot the names of her family members. She continued to love
them, wonder about them and every day looked forward to being together one more time.
That last gathering time was 11 days prior to her passing - a heroic effort to gather the Brouker
clan for a final hurrah in York, Maine…a day family members will forever hold in their hearts.
Marlene will be missed by many, but mostly her children and grandchildren. Her
entire life revolved around each of them as she had a tremendous knack of
making each person in her life feel special.
