On Sunday morning, Mary MacLean passed away peacefully at her home on Barn Point in York, Maine. She had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease, which left her bedridden at the end. She lived her life so well and was loved by so many people here on earth that it's no wonder God took her so gently to Heaven.
Mary attended Chelmsford high school and Lowell State Teachers College, eventually earning her Master’s Degree in Education. Following her marriage to Jack in the 1960s, the couple moved to Westford, Massachusetts. Mary taught grade school there for 20 years before becoming a school counselor, a role where she continued to deeply impact the lives of 'her kids.'
In the late 1970s, Mary and Jack moved to York and made it their home. Mary continued her career as an educator in the York school system and also worked as a real estate agent. She was an active member of many community groups that showcased the beauty of York’s homes and colorful gardens. A lifelong dog lover, Mary was especially fond of German Shepherds and Corgis; for years, she could be seen walking swiftly to Nubble Point and back.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack, who passed away in 2023. She leaves behind her brother, Vincent; her cousins, Roberta and Bob, Winnie and Donna, and Dorothy and Walter; her sister-in-law, Mary Gail; and her brothers-in-law, Norman and Thomas. Mary truly loved helping people and will be missed by all who knew her.
