Cape Neddick, Maine - Mary Frances (Thompson) Webber, 82, of 6 Moulton Farm Lane passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. She was born in the middle of a blizzard on Valentine’s Day, 1940, the second child of Leighton (Beau) Thompson and Edna (Fontaine) Thompson of York Maine. Seven brothers and sisters were added to that family, all of whom she loved.
Mary attended York schools, married Leon R. Moulton in 1956, and moved to Cape Neddick, where they raised their three children. They remained lifelong friends. In 1988, Mary married Bradley L. Webber, who predeceased her in 2017.
She enjoyed driving her school bus and often spoke of her many passengers on the daily bus routes over 30 years. Her hobbies included painting, needlework, and her beautiful gardens, especially on Logging Road. She was a wonderful chef and baker and famously prepared for gatherings of family and friends. While not exactly a lifelong sports fan, she always followed Tiger Woods and Tom Brady.
In the 1980’s she took sailing lessons, crewed on sailboats in the Caribbean, and spent two winters in Tenerife, Spain. She loved feeding and watching the birds. She was an expert at the Sunday crossword puzzle and almost always completed it in ink. More recently, she adopted a little dog, Red, and he was her constant and faithful companion.
Mary is survived by her brother, Richard (Skip) Thompson, three children, David S. Moulton and his wife Lisa, Wendy Moulton Sullivan and her husband Ken, and Marvin L. Moulton. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Melissa Lockwood, Alexander Starkey, Rachel Lamontagne, Nicholas Moulton, and Benjamin Moulton and nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews-and little Red.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022, in the First Parish Cemetery, 180 York Street, York, Maine. Family and friends are invited to A Celebration of Life at Union Bluff Meeting House, 8 Beach Street, York Beach, Maine immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the York Ambulance Association.
