Mary I. (Kavanagh) McMurrer

Eliot, Maine- Mary I. (Kavanagh) McMurrer, 87 of Goodwin Road, passed away, Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at York Hospital. She was born October 18, 1931 in the Forge Village section of Westford, MA, the daughter of the late John and Mary Ellen (Mosscrop) Kavanagh. She graduated from Salem State College and worked as a School Teacher. She was very active in the Girl Scouts of America for 30 years. She also enjoyed her summers in York Beach, Maine. Her family and especially her grandchildren were the most important things in her life.

She leaves behind her daughter Patricia King and her husband Jim of Eliot, ME; two sons, Sean P. McMurrer of Pelham, NH and Charles D. McMurrer of Hillsborough, NH; 3 grandchildren, James F. King, Mikayla E. King and Finnian B. McMurrer; a sister-in-law, Ellen Kavanagh of Grantham, NH.  

She was predeceased by her husband James F. McMurrer Jr., her son James F. McMurrer III and her brother John F. Kavanagh.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Gathering Place in Kittery, Maine for their love and kindness. Also to Jennifer Thibodeau, Dawn Sandler and their families for their unwavering love and support during her journey.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 14th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, Nov. 15th at St. Christopher's Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine with burial to follow at 1:30pm at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Westford, MA.
