Matthew (Matt) John Vienneau, of York, Maine, formerly of Milford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026 at Sentry Hill at York Harbor Memory Care Facility, surrounded by members of his loving family. Born in Millinocket, Maine, on December 21, 1959, he was the beloved son of the late Eugene Vienneau and Helen Montgomery Blanchette.
Shortly following Matt’s graduation from Stearns High School, class of 1978, he moved to Milford, Connecticut. Matt worked as a very involved and dedicated employee for many years at Sikorsky Aircraft, in Stratford, Connecticut. Matt was proud of his contributions at Sikorsky, which is known for developing advanced military and commercial helicopters, including the Black Hawk helicopter. His experience at Sikorsky inspired his inventions of several tools, including the patented Thumb Saver tool designed for electricians.
Matt had a passion for life, family and sports. In addition to being the biggest supporter of his sons’ baseball and football activities, Matt loved golf, bowling, riding his motorcycle, karate, team dance roller skating, playing pool and gardening. Matt loved to cook and hosted many gatherings for his family and friends over the years. He was also the Pastor of Praise Chapel Ministries Christian Church in the early 90’s. His many talents included modeling for the cover of a book titled “Buchanan’s Big Fight” by Jonas Ward. Matt was known for his great sense of humor, which was enjoyed by all, including the staff at Sentry Hill.
Matt was a devoted father and is survived by his beloved sons, Corey, Tyler and Dylan Vienneau. In addition, Matt is survived by seven siblings, Lawrence Vienneau and companion Cathy, Allen Vienneau and wife Donna, Keith Vienneau and wife Tori, Lori Vienneau, Carla Bouchard and husband Michael, David Vienneau and wife Marie, brother-in-law Brian Berry and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved sister Jo-Anna Berry.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of life, hosted by his sons, will be held May 22, 2026 @ 3:00 p.m. at Black Rock Church, 3685 Black Rock Tpke, Fairfield, CT 06825.
