Maurice G. Sweeney Obituary

Mary Carol (Jaster) and Maurice Sweeney of Pine Hill Road in Cape Neddick, passed away into eternal peace on February 16, 2020 following a long illness and care giving respectfully. Mary Carol at 8:30 am and Maury at 6:55 pm. They were high school sweethearts, married for 52 years. Their love was a modern day “Bronte” love story. They did everything together even now walking hand and hand down lovers lane for all eternity. Maury was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the Army. It was the only time in their lives that they were ever separated. Mary Carol was an artist and her favorite topic was the Nubble Light in York, Maine. They attended many craft shows throughout our State and some in neighboring states. Mary Carol was the eldest grandchild in our family of Nellie (Todd) and Charles W. Matthews also of Cape Neddick. Mary Carol and Maury traveled quite frequently to Maine and eventually bought a home to retire here when their accounting careers were finished in Pennsylvania. Their love for the State of Maine, her people and places were a constant in their lives. One of their many adventures was to take the mail boat ride in Portland Harbor. All of our family and friends have been blessed knowing this fascinating couple. They are survived by: Dr. Margaret R. Jaster, PhD of Middletown, PA, Anne(Jaster) Sosnowski and David of Kennebunk, Maine, Michael F. Jaster and Deborah of Warminister, PA, Elizabeth(Jaster) Gallelli and James of Philadelphia, PA and Leonard Nanartowicz. Many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and cousins. They were predeceased by their parents; Helen (Matthews) and Francis X. Jaster, Katherine (Haron) and Eugene Sweeney of Philadelphia. PA, Alice (Jaster) Nanartowicz. Eugene Sweeney, Jr. and Dennis Sweeney. A memorial service and internment will be held in the spring. Internment will take place in Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine. Memorial contributions may be made to Nubble Light/Sohier Park. Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, York, Maine is directing arrangements.
