Michael Francis Jancovic, a loving husband, brother, father and son, passed away unexpectedly
on October 8th, 2023, at age 49 in his hometown of York, Maine.
Mike is survived by his parents, his wife Jennifer, his brother Matthew, his sister Carrie and his
children, Rigel, Megan, Andrew and Sam. He is predeceased by his brother Brian, and his
grandparents Andrew and Murial Jancovic, and William and Evelyn Bohner.
Mike was born on May 4th, 1974, to Michael Francis Jancovic Sr. and Barbara Jancovic. He
graduated from College of the Atlantic in 1996, a college located on Mount Desert Island, one of
his favorite places in life. There he explored his love of all things marine, teaching scuba diving,
fishing in the sun and boating with his friends in the blue of the northern Atlantic. He had his first
son Rigel in 1996, and shortly thereafter married his wife of over two decades in 1998. His
marriage brought his family three more children, his first daughter, Megan, in 2001, and his sons
Andrew and Sam in 2003, and 2007 respectively. He will further be missed by his beloved dogs,
Boon and Diesel, and his cats, Lily and Nemo.
Michael Francis Jancovic was many things; in his work life, he was a sales manager, working to
improve the lives of people with serious medical conditions. But in his personal life, he was also
a fisherman, a diver, and a dedicated boatman. He was an animal lover, a skier, and a builder,
building his family’s home in York with the help of his friends. He was a lover of summer
sunshine, hiking, and music. He was a festive man, keeping the lights of the holidays on all year
if he could get away with it, working his hardest to bring joy and warmth to everyone he could,
as often as possible.
Michael’s family will be holding a celebration of his life at The Lobster in The Rough, on Friday, October13th, from 3pm to 7 pm.
