Michael J. DaBiere Obituary

Michael J. DaBiere, 72, of York, ME, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 2, 2021, after an incredibly courageous battle against cancer. 

 

 Michael was born on July 3, 1948, in Amsterdam, NY, son of the late Michael and Rose (DeRossi) DaBiere, where he grew up and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1966. 

 

He then worked at General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY, where he became a certified machinist through the apprenticeship program. 

 

When he moved to Maine he was employed by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 30 years as a machinist.

 

Anyone who knew Mike knew he was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family and friends. 

 

Mike had a great love of airplanes and enjoyed building and flying his model airplanes and was an active member and President of Front Line Flyers Club in York. He also took his love of flying to the skies as a licensed pilot. 

 

He loved his back yard and cooking on his fireplace that he took so much pride in building. He enjoyed tending to his apple trees and making apple cider.

 

He is predeceased by his brother, Clem DaBiere, of Amsterdam, NY.   He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry, of York, ME; his sisters,  Mary Lou Colvin (Chuck) of Wells, ME, and Rose Eleanor Rzesos  (Rich) of Broadalbin, NY, his sister in law, Deborah DaBiere of Amsterdam, NY;  his children, Joey Hampton, of ME, Lisa DaBiere of ME, Brenda Hernandez  (Nate) of  Fl, Melissa Koebler of VA  and John Koebler (Chantel) of TX; grandchildren Adam, Aleia, Jason, Corey, Kymora; great-granddaughter, Serenity, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is also survived by his aunt Jean Eliseo of Schenectady, NY. 

 

A special thank you to all who helped Mike during his battle with cancer  - All the Doctors, nurses, therapists, facilities, home health aides and Hospice, etc.  Your kindness, compassion,  and efforts to make him comfortable will never be forgotten.
