Michael J. Genewicz, 63, of Eliot, Maine passed away Thursday, September 14th, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family after an eight month, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John J. Genewicz and Ann M. Genewicz, and graduated from Arlington Catholic High School in Arlington, Massachusetts.
Mike started his career in landscaping as a groundskeeper at the Winchester Country Club in Winchester, MA. He eventually moved to Maine to start his own landscaping business, which he developed into his own general contracting and construction company. He worked for the last forty years in the York, Maine area as a prolific landscaper and contractor. In more recent years he discovered a special love for tree work, lot clearing and tree removal. Mike found tremendous joy and peace alone in his bucket truck, high up in the sky, amongst the trees. He was well known and respected by his peers for being one of the hardest workers they had ever known.
Mike is survived by the love of his life of twenty six years Janet "Alice" Hamilton, her six children Angela F. Drobish, Katie P. Boone, Susannah M. Boone, Jonathan M. Boone, Abigail J. Boone, Emily-Anne B. Boone, and their families, his son Joshua M. Genewicz, and wife Jenny Genewicz, and their two sons Brixton M. Genewicz and Easton E. Genewicz, his mother Ann M. Genewicz, his sister Anne V. Delaney, her five sons Douglas J. Delaney, Troy W. Delaney, John Ross Delaney, Curtt A. Delaney, Brett R. Delaney, and their families, his sister Lisa M. Bowers, her husband Matthew J. Bowers, and their three sons Matthew W. Bowers, Mark A. Bowers and Christopher J. Bowers. Mike is also survived by his beloved german shepherds Willy, Molly and Buddy. Mike is predeceased by his father John J. Genewicz.
Some of Mike's favorite times were spent with Janet and their dogs on the water, canoeing and fishing, working in his garden, and his frequent trips to Dairy Queen and Dunkin Donuts. Mike especially wished to thank everyone who reached out to him over the last six months during this difficult time. He was incredibly moved by everyone's kindness and support.
