Michael Joseph Stotts March 28, 1931 – November 9, 2023 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Joseph Stotts, who left us on November 9, 2023 at the age of 92. He faced his final journey with courage, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Born on March 28, 1931, Michael was a hard working, goal oriented young man who helped to support his family in Connecticut during his early life. After his tour of duty in the United States Army during the Korean War, he earned graduate degrees and certificates in history and education which prepared him to hold the position of school principal for schools servicing children of military families in Germany and France. He went on to travel the world, including many trips to Italy and most recently to Greece and Turkey. His zest for life and adventurous spirit inspired all who knew him.
In his professional life, Micheal strongly supported initiatives and organizations that he believed would better mankind. He held positions as an educator in medical schools bringing the concept of gerontological healthcare into medical school curricula, Director of Elder Hostel through local colleges in Massachusetts and Maine, and Executive Director of the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers.
Michael was a loving and caring father to three children, including Krisida, Lisanna and Anthanette. A devoted partner, Michael shared over thirty years of love and companionship with Jean. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and shared experiences. Michael is survived by Jeff, Julie and Gregory who he lovingly considered his family. He is also survived by six grandchildren including Christopher, Elena, Ryan, Lauryn, Leah and Robin. Michael is survived by his sister Sheila and her husband Dick, and their three children Rick, Sheila and Mara.
His wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support will be dearly missed by his family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Manchester Veteran Administration, Beacon Hospice, and York Hospital Home Care for their consistent support during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road in York, Maine on Friday, November 17th, viewing at 10:00am with Celebration of Life Ceremony at 11:00am. All friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to attend with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Michael Stotts and Krisidia Stotts Scholarship established through the University of Connecticut. The link below will enable you to donate directly to the scholarship fund.
