Michele A. Sorge Obituary

York, Maine - Michele A. Sorge, 65, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 surrounded by her family after fighting a long battle with her health over the past few months.  Her beautiful soul was born March 1, 1958 in Hoboken, NJ and grew up spending her childhood summers vacationing with her family in York, ME where she eventually moved and started a family of her own.  Her one true love and purpose in life was always her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren.  She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, not just to her own children, but to all those that she welcomed into her home and took under her wing.  She was known to always be there with an open ear and heart, and a full pitcher of iced tea.  Michele had overcome many obstacles in her life and was a proud cancer survivor, and through it all always had a smile and unforgettable laugh.

Michele loved walks on the beach and cozying up with her dog, Daisybelle.  She found joy in collecting heart shaped rocks, a good book, spending time outdoors, sewing, quilting, and a good cup of coffee.  Michele was always a free spirit and marched to the beat of her own drum, getting her first tattoo on her 50th birthday and then a motorcycle license when she was 55, because why not!  Michele was also always an animal lover, her favorite being a wolf.  On her facebook page she shared “The Code of the Wolf” which her family feels resonates perfectly with how she lived her life:

Protect your family

Honor the elders

Teach the young

Be loyal to your friends

Voice your opinion

Stand your ground

Take charge when others show weakness

Play when you can

Work when you must

Always leave your mark

Michele recently celebrated her 65th birthday while in the hospital, and was very grateful at the outpouring of love and support she received.  There were so many kind words, positive thoughts, cards, and gifts shared with her which truly brightened her day and made her feel loved.  It was so special that she was able to see the impact she had on those around her.

Michele leaves behind her parents, Arthur and Ann Sorge, three daughters (and sons), Ashley Camire and her husband Clayton, Brittany McLin and her husband Tom, and Emily Stevens and her husband Jared; two sisters, Dina DellaPasqua and her husband Rick of York, ME and Elyse Kehl and her husband Chris of Kittery Point, ME; two grandchildren who are the light of her life, Coen and Iyla Camire; and four nieces and nephews Dillon, Nicole, Daniel and Celia.
