Nancy Lea Sullivan Obituary

Cape Neddick, Maine-Nancy L. Sullivan, 87 passed away Saturday, May 21st, 2022 in Durgin Pines. She was born April 3rd, 1935, in Machias, Maine a daughter of the late Ulmer I. and Arlene (Gilpatrick) Vose Sr. She attended Machias Memorial High School and soon after married her husband of 43 years, Richard Sullivan. Nancy and Richard lived in Wesley, Maine where they raised their four children in their vine covered home surrounded by blueberry fields. Nancy’s home in Wesley was a great reflection of who she was and what she loved, she always had a unique artistic touch to everything she did, be it gardening, making wreathes, baking, or finding fun activities for her grandchildren.

Nancy worked in the family business, R.P. Sullivan, Inc. for many years. The mobile radio was always on in the kitchen to ensure she could keep track of everyone’s whereabouts; something she was particularly good at. She later enjoyed working at the local Cloud 9 Restaurant, Whitney’s Originals making wreaths, volunteering on the Wesley Ambulance Service and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

After the passing of her husband Richard P. Sullivan of 43yrs in 1997 she moved to York, Maine where she lived and worked at her son’s campground in Cape Neddick.  In York, Nancy met her partner of the past 22-years, Ed Storer of Kittery, ME. Together they lived and worked at Dixon’s Campground and enjoyed dancing, eating out, and taking joy rides through the campground in the golf cart. Both Nancy and Ed were fortunate to find each other later in life and enjoyed growing old together.

Nancy was a witty and sharp woman. She was direct and never sugarcoated anything; a true Downeaster. Her wit and boldness will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her step-father Robert L. Crane Sr. She is loved and remembered by her partner of 15yrs Edward Storer of Kittery, Maine; 2 brothers; Ulmer I Vose Jr. of Casa Grand, Arizona and Robert L. Crane Jr. of Portland, Maine; her children Susan Dennison and husband Bruce of East Machias, Maine, Michael Sullivan and wife Roberta of Cape Neddick, Maine, Patrick Sullivan of Northfield, Maine, Kathryn St Jean (Predeceased) and husband Scott of North Hampton, NH; her grandchildren Cory Dennison and partner Vicki of Virginia Beach, Virginia and children Andie and Charlie, Troy Dennison and wife Meghan of East Machias, Maine and children Brian, Grace, and Harper, Joey Dennison and wife Shannon of East Machias, Maine and children Emma, Austin, and Myles, Sarah Bell and husband Philip of Cape Neddick, Maine and children Quentin and Rowan, Whitney Lea Sullivan and husband Dave Arsenault of Eliot, Maine and children Wesley and Piper, Sean Sullivan and wife Susan of Wesley, Maine, Kurtis Sullivan and wife Britni of Machias, Maine and child Walker.
