Nancy Lorraine DeRosa Obituary

October 10, 1932 - February 12, 2026

Nancy L. DeRosa of York passed away on February 12, 2026 at York Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born on October 10, 1932 in Woburn, Massachusetts to George E. and Lotte (Nilsen) Smith, she grew up in Massachusetts and in Maine and graduated from Pepperell High School in 1950. It will surprise no one to learn that she was voted class “Best Dressed”. In 1953, she graduated from New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston. She had a long and varied nursing career.

In 1954, she married Charlie DeRosa and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2011.

Nancy loved her friends and family deeply and was cherished in return. She was a volunteer at Coastal Ridge Elementary School and at the York Community Association Thrift Shop. Up to date on the latest trends, she always had her finger on the pulse of pop culture.

She was predeceased by her seven brothers and sisters: Lilyan, Bob, George, Edna Murray, Conrad, Martha and Ken. She is survived by her children Karen (Bruce) Boardman, Elaine (Jay) Yokomizo and Glenn DeRosa. She was grandmother to Annie (Matt) Edminster, Jonathan (Shadyry) DeRosa and Josh DeRosa and great-grandmother to Brantley, Clara, Cayden, Maeve and Aryn.

The family is grateful to the amazing caregivers at Sentry Hill and York Hospital and for the loving care of so many wonderful friends, neighbors, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Congregational Church, PO Box 567, York Beach, ME 03910.
