Peggy (Toland) Bottiglio

Peggy (Margaret Toland) Bottiglio of York, Maine went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Peggy was a loving & caring woman, the one everyone went to for advice & guidance. She brought people together and went out of her way to help others when they were in need or fell on hard times. There was always a seat at the table for someone. Peggy was extremely giving, kind and compassionate. She had a fun & loving nature. She was super bright & often surprised us with her quick witted responses. She was always smiling & loved a good laugh. Everyone loved Peggy! She was very social & loved to be with friends – though, she always claimed to be shy. In later years, Nana (Peggy) spent her afternoons enjoying a hot cup of coffee & working on her computer with a heating wrap around her shoulders to keep her cozy. She loved to go for beach rides and was a long time fan of Johnny Cash!

Peggy came to faith in Jesus Christ in recent years and made up for lost time with bible studies, prayer groups, and her own daily walk in faith. Peggy had a sweet faith & prayed to Jesus, her best friend, constantly. We will miss her greatly, but we are very comforted to know that she belongs to God.
 

She was born on March 12, 1940, in Somerville, MA to Michael & Teresa (McGeogheghan) Toland, who emigrated from the Inishowen region of Ireland. Peggy was the youngest of 4 children and is predeceased by her siblings, Teresa McKenna, Mary Williams, and Dennis Toland.

Peggy leaves behind her husband, Guy, her beloved husband of 61 years. They were devoted to each other and had a blessed life together. Together, they had 4 children, Susan (Mitchell), Teresa, Aldo (predeceased) & wife Cindy, and Paul & wife Janine. Peggy & Guy have 2 wonderful grandchildren, Tyler Mitchell & wife Cecilia and Jessica (Mitchell) Gonzalez & husband Alberto. Together, Peggy’s family celebrated their Irish-Italian heritage and Christmas was an especially fun time of year when they gathered as a family. Nana (Peggy) really loved these celebrations.

A Graveside service will be held 1:30pm on Tuesday, January 11th in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA. The family plans to host a celebration & family/friend gathering in the spring.
