Raymond M. Chase Obituary

Raymond M. Chase, 94 of York, Maine passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 7, 2020.  Together with his wife, he lived out his final months at Durgin Pines in Kittery where the wonderful staff took excellent care of him.

Ray proudly served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Pitt out of San Diego, CA from 1942-1944.  After discharge, he bought the Esso service station in York then became manager at the Badger Farms Creamery in Portsmouth, NH.  His love for building became his full time career.  He taught his sons the trade and worked with them until his retirement.  During car rides he was always quick to point out his handy work, everything from renovations to houses built from the ground up.

He is survived by the love of his life, Jacqueline (Thomas) Chase who he met in 1951.  They were married Easter Sunday, April 13, 1952 in Methuen, Mass.  They made their home in York where they raised their children.  Lisa,  Scott married to Mary (Tuttle),  Susan,  Paul married to Holy (Moore) and Rebecca married to Alex Wiley.

Family was everything to "Gramps".  His favorite moments were spent with his grandchildren.  Erica Davies of York, Brandon& Jennie (Allen) Davies of Brunswick, Zachary & Alyssa (Spang) Chase of Cape Neddick and Aaron Chase of Cape Neddick.  He was blessed with four amazing great-grandchildren who he loved dearly.  Madison 10, Lucas 5, Annabelle 4 and Lydia 2 /12.   He also had many nieces, nephews and countless friends who he enjoyed spending time with.

He will be remembered for his "rides around the beach", love of stock car/NASCAR racing and Hogan's Heroes.  His neighbors will think of him fondly sitting on the front porch, often in a winter coat, waving to them as they walked by.  The area kids knew that a quick visit meant leaving with a full Dixie cup of chocolate chips.

He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Hazel (Moulton) Chase, his six brothers Arthur, Roger, Conrad, Gerald, Edward and Dennis and his precious daughter, Lisa.

Ray will be laid to rest in the family cemetery by Chase's Pond.  A small, private graveside service is planned.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his church where he was an active member for over 68 years.  United Methodist Church of York-Ogunquit.  P.O. Box 521 York, ME  03909
