York, Maine-Richard E Curtis, 83 of Styles Lane, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 3, 2023 at home.
He was born December 1, 1939 in Everett, MA son of the late Richard E. and Winifred (Whalen) Curtis Sr.
His siblings Elizabeth Curtis Clark and Lenored Clark brother in law , Francis Curtis Philadelphia PA,
Theresa Gerokoulis and husband Donald Gerokoulis Everett, Thomas M. Curtis Deputy Fire Chief MFD and wife
Margaret Curtis Medford , William Curtis of Vero Beach FL and wife Dolores Curtis Vero Beach formerly of Everett and Malden all predeceased him.
Richard leaves his spouse Patricia Curtis of York, ME
A son Sean P. Beagan of CA formerly of North Reading, MA.
Richard was a dedicated firefighter for the City of Everett Fire Department for many years retiring in 2004.
Richard was also a painter and painted close to every home in The Greens in North Reading where he resided
He lived on the 16th tee at the Thompson Country Club for twenty three years enjoyed living at The Greens and golfing became his new sport and enjoyed playing with his wife as well as other members of TCC.
He immensely enjoyed living at The Greens and being involved in social activities.
He enjoyed travelling and many trips were to San Diego, CA his favorite place and a stop in L.A.
Before the end of his vacation to visit our son.
We often vacationed in Las Vegas enjoying the theatre and casinos at various hotels.
Richard was known as a happy smiling and friendly guy to neighbors and strangers as well in North Reading and York Beach.
He enjoyed sitting on the front porch for endless hours during the spring/summer time. He greeted everyone that he could see walking or driving by with a smile and a wave.
The young kids enjoyed him as he loved young kids and when the kids are a way first thing they do is come over and say hi.
Richard suffered a stroke two years ago it affected his speech it was difficult to communicate and he did well not letting it change his routine or lifestyle.
Richard was one of six children born and raised in Everett. He married and moved to The Greens in N Reading, MA and lived there twenty three years before moving to York, Maine.
He was happy living in both places enjoying the Oceanside and it’s relaxed Atmosphere.
He had a beagle dog for a number of years and he was the caretaker feeding and walking Bentley and Bentley bonded with Richard almost immediately.
He was a member of Firefighters Union and the Thompson Country Club, North Reading, MA
Besides his wife Patricia he leaves Margaret Brandt his special sister in law and her husband Ronald of York, Maine; The late John Fullerton SFD and his wife Barbara of York, ME;
The late James Fullerton and his wife Nancy of York Beach, Maine, Robert Fullerton and his wife Sharon of Wilmington, MA.
As well as several adoring nieces and nephews that always made time to visit Richard and the day prior to his passing the latest baby nephew, Henry came in with his mom to see Uncle Dick.
