Bob Williams, 73, died peacefully Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Gosnell Memorial
Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine of complications from Parkinson’s Disease. We would
like to express our gratitude for the exceptional care Bob received from the extraordinary staff
and volunteers at Gosnell at the end of his life.
Bob was proud to say that he was from New Jersey, and lived most of his life in Maine.
He was a graduate of Deering High School and the University of Maine at Portland-Gorham,
majoring in Mathematics. He held various technological and managerial positions including at
Hannaford Bros. Company, Tupperware (Orlando, FL), Bass Shoe/Phillips-Van Heusen, the
Maine Media Group/Portland Press Herald, and the Maine Turnpike Authority, from which he
retired in 2016.
Bob loved baseball and softball, playing shortstop on local teams in his younger years
and later coaching his daughter’s softball teams. He was an enthusiastic vegetable gardener and
NASCAR fanatic, inveterate puzzle-maker, stamp collector, and he was like a little kid at Disney,
going to Florida as often as possible. But he was happiest around his family and was most proud
of his children and grandchildren. He loved nothing more than hosting big family Christmases,
barbeques, and gatherings at his home in Standish.
Bob leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Kathleen (Garfield) Williams, and four children:
Brenda Palermo of Raymond (ME), Daniel Williams of Titusville (FL), Rebecca Williams of
Saco (ME), Kaitlin (Williams) Keller and her husband Patrick of Niantic (CT). He also leaves
behind eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date at First Parish Cemetery.
