Robert C. Menard, affectionately known as Bob, Dad, Grampy, Beep, and Uncle Bob, passed away at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of his family.
Bob was born in Framingham, Massachusetts, to Edward J. and Dorothy R. (Powers) Menard. He attended Ashland Public Schools before graduating and serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wasp.
In June of 1966, Bob met the love of his life and best friend, Katherine (Murphy) at the Teen Canteen in Hopkinton, MA. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he was head over heels—and the two began a partnership that spanned over 53 years of marriage, filled with unwavering love, adventure, and laughter.
Together, they raised two children, Christopher (wife Karin) and Michelle (husband Gary), first building a life in Southborough, MA, before making their home in York, Maine, in 2000.
Bob took immense pride in being a father, and that love only grew when he became a grandfather to seven cherished grandchildren: Andrew O’Sullivan (husband Matthew), Ryan Menard, Lexi York, Elisabeth Menard, Lauren Menard, Jessica York, and Sara York. He also leaves behind his brother Edward Menard (wife Mary) and several nieces and nephews.
Professionally, Bob was a dedicated lineman and fiber optic trainer for Verizon for 26 years. After retiring from Verizon, he launched his own business, All Tech, serving as a manufacturers’ representative, where he continued to share his knowledge in telecommunications.
Bob was happiest in life’s simple pleasures: traveling, gardening, tinkering in the yard, trying his luck at the casino and offering Grampy advice. There is nothing he looked forward to more than creating a home cooked meal and the entire family around the table.
Our 2024 family quote matches Bob’s view of family perfectly - “Being a family means you are part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved the rest of your life”. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lessons that will live on in the lives of those who were lucky enough to know him.
