Robert J. Normandeau Obituary

Robert Joseph Normandeau, 88, of York Beach, Maine, and formerly of Hooksett, New Hampshire, passed away on July 8, 2026. Born in 1937 in Manchester, New Hampshire, he was the son of Armand Normandeau and Beatrice Normandeau.

Bob was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Anne (Betty) Wageman Normandeau for 66 years. He is survived by his wife Betty, his children Pam Ouellette, Scott Normandeau, and Wendy Spencer, as well as his 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and extended family.

Bob graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, New Hampshire, and went on to graduate from St. Anselm’s College in Manchester in 1960. That same year he was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer through Officer Training School.  He served four years on active duty and 24 years in the Naval Reserve, retiring with the rank of Commander. While serving in the Navy, he earned his MBA from George Washington University.

In his professional career, Bob was a respected Human Relations and Personnel executive. He worked for Honeywell and had a long career with General Electric, with positions in Hooksett, New Hampshire, and Schenectady, New York. He opened the General Electric steam turbine generator plant in Merrimack, New Hampshire, and later managed its closing. After leaving GE, he purchased and successfully operated Wageman Insurance, the independent insurance agency founded by his father-in law. While raising his family in Hooksett, Bob was active in the community.

He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club and helped establish the Hooksett Police Commission, serving as one of its commissioners. Bob and Betty retired to their beach home in York Beach, Maine, where he enjoyed the peaceful ocean views and the changing seasons of the Maine coast.
