Dr. Roy Douglas Strand, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 10, 2024, in York, Maine. He was 91. Born on April 1, 1932, in Bozeman, Montana, Dr. Strand's life was a remarkable blend of personal devotion and professional excellence.
Dr. Strand's professional life was defined by his over 30 year career as a Pediatric Neuroradiologist at Boston Children’s Hospital and continued work at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland.
An avid golfer, sports enthusiast, and a keen follower of news, Dr. Strand's interests kept him engaged with the world and provided many cherished memories with friends and family.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 56 years, Patricia, his sons, David and Mark, his nephew Jim, and his cherished grandchildren, who will remember his kind heart and love of witty jokes.
A private memorial service will be held to honor Dr. Strand's life in the summer. The family suggests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Krieger Laboratory of Children's Hospital Los Angeles, an organization close to Dr. Strand's heart.
