Russell J. Beaulieu, aged 96, peacefully passed away on May 9, 2024, at his home in York Beach, Maine, with the soothing sounds of the ocean as his backdrop and his cherished family at his side. Born on October 7, 1927, in Rochester, NH, Russell was the son of the late Emilio and Ida (Morin) Beaulieu.
A proud World War II veteran, he was in the United States Army and played trumpet in the military band. Russell pursued his education at St. John's University in New York City and later graduated from New York University with a degree in radiological technology. He dedicated over three decades of his life as a radiological technologist at the Boston Veteran's Administration Hospital, as well as contributing his skills to the Boston Evening Clinic and Harvard University. Russell was a devoted member of St. Christopher's Church. Alongside his beloved wife, June, he spent his retirement years volunteering at various organizations, including York Hospital, the York Food Pantry, the Nubble Welcome Center, and the Table of Plenty. Russell had a passion for travel, ballroom dancing, and cruises.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 70 years, June A. (Peabody) Beaulieu, along with their two sons Terrance Beaulieu and wife Creda, Douglas Beaulieu and wife Pamela, and five daughters: Denise Hovis and husband Mark, Robin Culpepper, Kimberly Burns and husband Jonathan, Collette Carville and husband Craig, and Jennifer Keefe. Russell also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his four sisters Anna Rose Dozois, Angele Southworth, Stella Cole, Rita Keith and three brothers Jerome Beaulieu, Julien Beaulieu, Fabien Beaulieu.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 15th, at the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. Russell will be privately laid to rest in the First Parish Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
