Stephen J. Hayward

York, Maine-Stephen J. Hayward, 75 of Abbey Road passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in Durgin Pines.

He was born August 10, 1947 in Bath, Maine a son of the late Fred O. and Martha (Torrey) Hayward.

He graduated from High School in Okinawa, Japan. He enlisted in the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam, he was awarded a Purple Heart, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star.

He graduated from the University of Maine-Orono, he worked as a Maine Sate Trooper, a Border Patrol Agent and finally as a criminal investigator with U. S. Customs before retiring.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Therese M. (Scollen) Hayward; a brother-in-law Monsignor Francis Scollen of Worcester, MA; a brother William Hayward and wife Karen of Randolph, ME; two sisters, Donna Hayward of Petersburg, VA

and Joanne Lavallle of Gardiner, ME; several nieces and nephews; a son Michael Hayward his wife Cathy and their two children.

Memorial contributions may be made to an Animal Rescue of one's choice. Funeral services will be private.
