Thomas Anthony Zilembo
May 26, 1941 – January 29, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Anthony Zilembo (known affectionately as Uncle
Tommy AKA “TAZ”) on January 29, 2025, at the age of 83. Tom passed peacefully at home in Wells, Maine,
surrounded by his loving family and his faithful dog, Bailey, by his side.
Born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, on May 26, 1941, Tom was the son of the late Thomas John Zilembo &
Frances Elizabeth Zilembo. He was the beloved brother of the late Richard Zilembo and William R. Zilembo and
leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his extended family.
Tom was a man of many talents and passions. In the early 1970s, he was the proud owner of Tom's Market in
Marlborough, MA. Later, he worked in various roles, managing convenience stores and ultimately finishing his
career as a specialist at Filene’s and Macy’s, where he earned respect and admiration from his colleagues.
A true lover of Maine, Tom made Wells his home for the past 30+ years. When he was well, you could always find
him at a local auction, or simply enjoying life on his deck, surrounded by family. Those who knew him will
remember his quick wit, his infectious laugh, and his endless stories that could light up any room. A man of strong
will and a deep sense of independence, Tom was also known for his stubborn streak—a trait that was matched only
by his determination to enjoy life to the fullest. Though he faced the challenges of diabetes, he never let it stop him
from savoring the simple joys, like his beloved Diet Dr. Pepper, caramel popcorn and hoodsie ice cream cups, &
strawberry shortcake which were some of his favorite treats.
Tom was a loving and proud family man, and he will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many
extended family members, all of whom he held dear.
He is survived by:
Billy Zilembo and his fiancé Yanissa Tavarez, along with their children Lianna, Carmine, Jadiel, and
Lennox
Anne Ramsey and her children Miriam, David (his son Thomas), Shaun, Melanie Drew, and Sadie
Erica Zilembo and her husband Darren Driver, along with their daughters Taylor, Jordan, Kaylee and
Sophia
Ami and Danny Callinan, and their daughters Kelsey and Kallie
William R. Zilembo (brother)
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to York Hospital, Hospice of Southern Maine, and Elara Caring for
the exceptional care and support provided to Tom during his illness. Their kindness made it possible for him to
remain at home, in the place where he felt most at peace.
A memorial service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 from 5:00pm - 7:00 pm at
Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd, York, ME 03909.
Tom’s laughter, his stories, and his warmth will never be forgotten. He touched the lives of all who knew him, and
his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Rest in peace, TAZ. You are loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten.
