We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Thomas S. Cryan Sr., our devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who died so quietly on Saturday, July 29th, at the age of 83 while surrounded by loved ones. Thomas had lived in York, Maine most recently before spending 81 years in Lowell, Massachusetts. He was happily married for 63 years to Jacqueline F. (Steger) Cryan. At Keith Academy and Keith Hall, where they first met, Tom fell completely in love with Jacqueline. They were together for many years. Jacqueline was his main concern throughout his illness.
He was the son of the late John and Irene (Harrington) Cryan and was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on August 4, 1939. He attended St. Patrick's School in Lowell for his education, and graduated from Lowell's Keith Academy high school. Before his retirement, Thomas worked as a contract manager for Digital, HP and other tech businesses that allowed him to travel the world.
Paul Cryan, Claire Hibbard, Alice Clapper, Irene McGee, and Leona Robarge, all deceased, were his siblings. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children: Kim Peck and her husband Charles of York, Me., Sharon Perry and her husband Ernest of Tewksbury, Ma., Judith Ahrikenchikh and her husband Mostafa of York, Me., Thomas S. Cryan Jr. and his wife Wendi of York, Me. and Patricia Simmons and her husband Kenneth of Vernon, Ct.. Additionally, ten devoted grandkids who adored their grandfather outlive him. His family had always come first. On August 4, Grampy would have turned 84 years old. He loved spending his birthday with his family.
Our family will always be indebted to the liver transplant donor who gave Thomas 14 additional years. We also want to express our gratitude to Lahey Hospital's employees, nurses, and medical professionals for their thoughtfulness during Tom's hospital stay.
