YORK, Maine - Warren Earl "Pa" Covel, 90, of Scituate Road, died at home on Thursday, December 10, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 2, 1930 in Milo, he was the son of Earl and Gladys (Brawn) Covel. He grew up in Milo and Kittery before marrying his beloved wife Glenys on September 3, 1954.
Known affectionately to the youngest members of his family as "Pa", he worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 33 years and was a longtime member of the York Street Baptist Church.
A man of many interests and talents, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, photography, and spending time at the camp he built on Sebec Lake in Bowerbank. After retiring in 1985, he also spent many happy years traveling the country with his wife, visiting all 50 states together.
He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was wholly devoted to his family.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Claire Sturtevant, who died in 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Glenys; two sons, Gary Covel and his wife Brenda of Wells, and Alan Covel and his wife Jen of York; four grandchildren, Ryan Hyotte and her husband Jeff, Jennifer Linscott, Julie Covel, and Daniel Covel; and four great-grandchildren, Thomas, Courtney, Taylor and Hayden.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30pm on Monday, December 14th in the First Parish Cemetery, 180 York St., York, Maine.
