Wayne W. Horvath Obituary

Wayne W. Horvath passed away July 15th, 2025 at 91 years old. His life and professional career reflected his lifelong interests in religion, politics and the arts. He earned a Bachelor of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology, later becoming director of relations of the Mass Council of Churches, testifying often at the Massachusetts Legislature. He hosted the WBZ TV's religious affairs show, “Our Believing World”. He began his development career at Harvard University, holding the positions of Associate Dean of the Divinity School, Coordinator for Governmental Resources in the John Fitzgerald School for Government. As a young man, he was active in political affairs as an administrative aide to two US senators. His lifelong profession became fundraising for the arts. Clients included the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Shakespeare Globe Theatre Centre in London, Boston Lyric Opera, and Leonard Bernstein Center. He also directed his energies toward environmental education and medical institutions, consulting and directing capital efforts and annual giving programs at Leahy Clinic, Duke University Medical Center, Saint Timothy's School, Tall Timbers Research, Wildlife Conservation Fund of America. Wayne did not want any services. He is survived by Brian Beasley.
