William H. Sawyer Obituary

William H. Sawyer passed away on the second of October, 2021, at the age of 89 at his home in Kittery Pt., Me, surrounded by his friends and family.  "Wim" was born and raised on the family farm by his loving parents Jonathan Sawyer and Esther Tuttle, along with his siblings Jonathan, Lydia and Elizabeth.
He served his country during the Korean War, and then pursued higher education at the University of Maine Orono where he earned a degree in History.  William married Barbara Blunt of Wellesley MA, where they settled down and raised their family. He worked hard as the night foreman at Wellesley College for 25 years. A true farm boy, William loved nature, spending his life around plants, animals and the woods.  He was an avid gardener.  He nurtured a lifelong love of history, poetry, music, and took advantage of any chance to celebrate with his extended family.  A large annual Thanksgiving gathering with all of his family was a treasured tradition.  He moved home to the Sawyer Farm in retirement with his wife Barbara, where he spent his last years.
He leaves behind his wife Barbara, his daughter Ashley Heffron, his son Eben Sawyer and his four Grandsons William, Phineas, Johnathan and Joshua.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 PM, October 16, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover NH, followed by a reception at 110 Bartlett Rd, Kittery PT, ME.
